How to play brick breaker

A paddle, a ball, a wall of bricks. Keep the ball in play and break them all.

Brick breaker, also called block breaker or breakout, is one of the oldest arcade games. Brickwave keeps the same core.

The rules

Your paddle sits at the bottom of the screen. The ball bounces off the walls, the bricks and your paddle. Each hit damages a brick; some bricks need several hits. Break every brick to clear the level. If the ball falls past your paddle, you lose a life. You start with three.

The controls

Drag your finger anywhere to move the paddle; it follows your finger, with no cursor. Tap to launch the ball. Where the ball hits the paddle decides its angle: near the edge, it leaves at a sharp angle.

Power-ups

Broken bricks sometimes drop a power-up. Catch it with the paddle: Multi Ball, Laser Paddle, Expand Paddle, Extra Life!… Some are traps, like Fast Ball or Shrink Paddle. The Power-Ups Guide, in the settings, lists them all.

Combos

Each brick broken before the ball returns to your paddle raises your combo, and the combo multiplies your score.
